Types Of Therpay At Autism Treatment Center.

Nov 14, 2023

Introduction:

At the forefront of these efforts is the Autism Treatment Service Center, a dedicated facility committed to providing comprehensive therapeutic approaches for individuals with autism. In this exploration, we delve into the various types of therapy offered at the center, each designed to address specific aspects of the complex and unique needs of those with ASD. By examining these therapeutic modalities, we aim to shed light on the nuanced strategies employed to enhance the lives of individuals on the autism spectrum.

We will work to provide families with answers to many if their questions about autism. Our autistic treatment center will help to provide families with the support and information they need. We will offer advice, such as the benefits of certain treatments, the best course of care and how to improve the quality of life for that particular patient. We will offer an in depth parent training series that creates partners in treatment between our center’s therapeutic efforts and continuity of those interventions in the home. Seminars, hands-on training and focused topic groups are just a sample of the design structure that will be available to empower parents and caregivers to be the most effective in their child’s treatment. Topics ranging from toilet- training and developing speech, to managing challenging behavior and the latest in autism research will be available through the consultation. In fact, parent mediated interventions will offer support and practical advice to parents of autistic children. Our parent training program will lead to reduced maternal depression, improved maternal knowledge of autism and communication style, and improved child communicative behavior. This program will provide significant improvements in parental mental health and well-being, particularly for parents with preexisting mental health problems. Parent child interaction therapy is a model that has demonstrated success with children with oppositional defiant disorder that will be applied to children at our autism treatment center.

Speech Therapy

Because our speech therapy program will be offered at least once a day, the patient is able to benefit from this therapy more quickly than traditional therapies that are taught only once or twice a week in the home environment. Our speech services will begin with initial screening for communication and swallowing disorders and continue with assessment and diagnosis, consultation for the provision of advice regarding management, intervention and treatment, and provision counseling and other follow up services for this disorder. Assessments will primarily examine the form, content, and use of language, as well as reading, writing, and some cognitive functions.

Occupational Therapy

A skilled treatment that uses or adapts activity in order to help individuals increase independence in all areas of their lives. Our occupational therapy practitioners are skilled professionals whose education includes the study of human anatomy, growth and development including the social, emotional, and physiological effects of illness and injury. Services typically include: customized treatment programs to improve one's ability to perform daily activities at home and work, evaluations with adaptation recommendations to improve safety and independence, and education to family members and caregivers. We will integrate coping skills into the lives of children with autism, making life easier and learning more efficient ways to perform necessary tasks.

Physical Therapy

The provision of services to people to develop, maintain and restore maximum movement and functional ability throughout the lifespan. It includes the provision of services in circumstances where movement and function are threatened by the process of aging or that of injury or disease. Physical therapy is concerned with identifying and maximizing movement potential, within the spheres of promotion, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation. It involves the interaction between physical clients, families and care givers, in a process of assessing movement potential and in establishing agreed upon goals and objectives using knowledge and skills unique to physical therapists.

Massage Therapy

Many of the symptoms experienced by children with autism might be improved with the use of massage therapy. Benefits have been shown for people who are tactile defensive or do not like to be touched. Balance and walking can be improved along with lack of attention and hyperactivity. We will introduce and develop a massage therapy plan that parents and caregivers can learn to do at home.

Craniosacral Therapy

We will utilize a trained craniosacral therapy provider, such as a chiropractor, osteopath or physical therapist. The provider will apply gentle pressure to help balance cerebrospinal fluid throughout the body, which can create a calming effect and lessen the symptoms of autism like aggressive or self-destructive behavior. CST can also be used to treat Asperger's Syndrome or help people with Pervasive Developmental Disorder.

Listening Therapy

There are several different “listening therapies” or auditory integrative training programs available online promising relief for autism symptoms. According to Sinha, Silove, Wheeler, and Williams (2006), “treatments to overcome variations in auditory sensitivity commonly encountered in people with autism have been developed and are collectively called auditory integration therapies. They include auditory integration training (AIT), the Tomatis method and Samonas sound therapy.”

Nutritional Therapy

We will add vitamins A, C, E, B6, B12 and mineral supplements such as magnesium, which is often lacking in children with autism. Vitamin B6 can be found in leafy green vegetables, but Vitamin B12 must often be injected. We will add essential fatty acids such as primrose oil, flax seed oil and fish oil. We will supplement the child's diet with Dimethylglycine (DMG) and Dimethyl Amino Ethanol (DMAE), which can improve mood and memory.

Recreational Therapy

A social group of young adults who will work with a certified therapeutic recreation specialist. This will be available on an individual fee basis.

Music Therapy

While not yet an insurance-billable service, music therapy will be an integral part of the center's clinical services. It will be available on a private-pay basis to complement the other approaches. A board-certified music therapist will share the scientifically supported benefits of engaging in music for all clients.

Medical Management

Drugs, supplements, or diets are often used to alter physiology in an attempt to relieve common autistic symptoms such as seizures, sleep disturbances, irritability, and hyperactivity that can interfere with education or social adaptation. There is plenty of anecdotal evidence to support medical treatment; many parents who try one or more therapies report some progress, and there are a few well-publicized reports of children who are able to return to mainstream education after treatment, with dramatic improvements in health and well-being. We will only engage in the medical treatments that are well supported by scientific evidence using controlled experiments.

Diet Management

We will monitor the results of eliminating dairy, gluten, and sugar from the diet to bring about mental, physical, and emotional balance within children with autism.

Individual Consultations

During our 30 or 60 minute fee-based individual consultations, clients will be free to talk about their symptoms and problems with the goal of understanding where the imbalances in their systems lie. By the end of the consultation, a plan will be suggested including lifestyle changes, nutritional and supplemental support, homeopathic remedies, and follow-up communication. We will integrate holistic and Western medicine in order to provide the best care for the patient.

Educational Seminars

We will provide training seminars to care providers, such as hospitals and day care centers. We will offer expert in-service training and State approved

CHHA Training

These seminars will be conducted by our expert team of in-house medical professionals. Our seminars will be attended by educators, social workers, nurses, trust officers, and elder law attorneys.

Exercise Programs

Our exercise programs will be part of a comprehensive autistic treatment program. It can greatly enhance the quality of life of a child who is autistic. Being physically active will help in the areas of social development, emotional maturity, and fine motor skills. Autism spectrum disorder has varying effects on children. Some children are severely affected, while others have moderate, or mild symptoms. For this reason, there's no way to predict exactly how much a child can benefit from regular exercise. Children with autism will learn to use exercise to deal with their emotional challenges. For example, the child will learn to do yoga, when they feel overwhelmed, and this will help curb their meltdowns.

Employment Education

The goal of our employment education program will be for the students to secure supported and competitive employment positions that both challenge the student and meet the needs of the employer. Students will be taught skills in areas such as clerical, custodial and food service both within the school and at community work sites. Various social language skills such as greeting coworkers, opening conversations, maintaining conversations, and closing topics will also be taught in natural contexts. As they gain job skills and knowledge, students will move from in-school work to obtain paid employment in community settings. Students will also learn banking and money management skills as part of this program
